1 year, 365 days, 12 months, 525600 minutes. However you want to look at its nearly a new year. Lots of great things are coming to the gym in 2016 but lets take a minute to look back at the year that was 2015.

The year of the baby.

I have officially lost count of the number of women who are new moms or moms to be around the gym. The saying is true now more than ever; when I arrive at the gym it’s more likely than not I see a toddler scurrying across the floor or a herd of pregnant women grazing by the rowers.

Eunice and Baby Nat at Regionals.

This was Emily’s 5th Regionals appearance and Nat’s first as an individual. Both girls worked their ass off this year to earn their right to compete among the top 40 females in the North West. It was awesome to see some of our members make the trip down to cheer on our ladies.

Annual Nutts Cup.

This years’ annual competition was one to be remembered. Our house was packed with athletes and spectators alike, our events were some of our best yet, the food was out of this world and it will forever be remembered as the year of the power outage.

MadLab Tournament.

Our annual in house competition takes athletes of all degrees, teams them up and faces them off over 6 weeks. Huge barriers were broken this year mentally and physically for many members. Shout out to Marco who finally gets to see his name on a MadLab banner.

Tribal Elder.

As we do every year, we honour our members who have reached the 5 year milestone. Our annual party hosted by Patty and Dashie is a way to thank our Tribal Elders for their commitment to our gym and the commitment they have to themselves through fitness.

MadLab 10 year anniversary.

This year CrossFit Vancouver, now branded MadLab School of Fitness, celebrated its 10th year of existence. We took to Spanish Banks Beach Park and threw a family party. Water balloon toss, hoover ball, swimming, spike ball and a workout all in one day. It was a great sunny day to celebrate members past and present.

2016 and beyond…

The future is bright at MadLab School of Fitness. I hope everyone is as excited for 2016 as I am.

Tom
